Foundation Programme (FP)

Wales Foundation School is part of Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW)

Wales has an unpaired foundation programme which means that F2 placements are selected after starting the Foundation Programme. F1 doctors can apply for F2 posts across all of Wales regardless of their F1 post. Details of the F2 matching scheme can be found here.

Popularity, lowest entry score and size of the foundation school can be seen below.

Academic Foundation Programme (AFP)

Wales Academic Foundation Programme is managed by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW).

AFP posts are unpaired, like FP posts. Only the F1 year in Wales is designated as academic and there is no requirement to do an academic F2 year. F2 posts are allocated through the F2 matching scheme.

Vacancies, applications and competition ratios can be seen below.
